Yesterday, I did a fresh install of Fedora 13 to new PC. With a Fedora 13 DVD ISO, 8GB USB flash disk, and Fedora 12 system in another PC, here the complete step to prepare the installation that I want to share to.
Please note:
I assume you have download the 64 bit version of Fedora 13 DVD ISO, and you saved the ISO file as
/data/Fedora-13-x86_64-DVD.iso
. Hey, I think it is also work with another x86_64 ISO, such as Fedora 13 Gnome, Fedora 13 KDE Spin, and many more!.I assume your USB Flash disk device is
/dev/sdb
. Mine was/dev/sdd
, as I have some HDD in existing system.Every single step below must be done in root environtment. So you could use either
su -
orsudo [command]
.
Preparation steps:
-
Install LiveCD Tools and syslinux. Mine was
livecd-tools-031-1
andsyslinux-3.75-4
, higher version should be better:
yum install livecd-tools syslinux
-
Create usb flash install media, it takes some times to finish, so please be patient:
livecd-iso-to-disk --reset-mbr /data/Fedora-13-x86_64-DVD.iso /dev/sdb1
That's it. You're done. Now you can safely remove your USB flash disk and following the short Quick Start Installation Guide or the complete Goddard Installation Guide. Go, Rock it!.
